I am a 210 average bowler and have averaged over 200 for over 10 years. I am a certified Level I coach and have coached a lot of people helping them to increase their averages as much as 50 pins!

Bowling balls have really come a long way, from the round stones that may have been thrown at pin like stones by the caveman, and most assuredly be the ancient Egyptians, to the “resin particle cover stocks” with unimaginable weight block shapes that are driving up averages today.

More than 50 million Americans participated in the sport of bowling at least once last year. About 4 million participate in a weekly league each year. Bowling balls are made of hard smooth materials such as hard rubber, polyester, urethane and more recently reactive resin, are allowed to weigh up to 16 pounds, with no minimum weight, with a circumference of between 26.7 and 27 inches, and a diameter of 8.5 inches.
